AI Agents won't replace healthcare teams. They'll work alongside them. The next evolution of Generative AI isn't a single chatbot.
It's intelligent AI agents that can collaborate, retrieve information, automate routine tasks, and support clinicians across complex workflows. The opportunity isn't simply automation, but enabling clinicians and staff to focus on higher-value work while AI handles repetitive, information-intensive activities.
In Generative AI: Unlocking the Next Chapter in Healthcare, we explore how AI agents fit into the future of healthcare—and why governance and human oversight remain essential as these capabilities evolve.
The future isn't human or AI. It's human expertise amplified by AI.
HonorHealth uses predictive AI to establish expected discharge dates, identify potential barriers, and prioritize the actions needed to move patients safely through their care journey. Following implementation across six hospitals, the health system reported a 0.65-day reduction in average length of stay, 50,673 cumulative hospital days saved, and $62 million in savings from reducing excess inpatient days. The percentage of patients receiving an early discharge plan also increased by 72%, reaching 86%. The results show how embedding AI into care-team workflows can improve patient flow, expand bed capacity, and reduce administrative burden.
Nearly 12 million people across 41 states live in areas with inadequate broadband, limiting telehealth's potential to reach communities where healthcare is already difficult to access.
